This is probably one of our favorite construction updates since we have great progress to report and a few pictures to share 🙂 The exterior of Inspirador was completed a few weeks ago and now (after a mad-rush weekend of round the clock contractors) the interiors are just about ready too! Inspirador is ready for her final interior paint colors and finishes. The pictures on this slideshow were shot on Saturday and since then all drywall, insulation, heating/cooling and more was completed. So CLOSE!
FRAGILE: Contains Peace! September 16, 2007
What would you do if you suddenly received a box via mail, labeled “FRAGILE: Contains Peace”? How would you use it? Would you give it to someone else? Would you sell it? Would you just throw it away?
Such a box is exactly what painter Franck de Las Mercedes has been sending since May of 2006 to anyone who asks him, anywhere in the world, for FREE! “The Priority Boxes” project is a public art series that seeks to provoke thought, to make people reconsider their ability to influence change, communicate through art and make art accessible to people from all walks of life. http://www.fdlmstudio.com/PriorityBoxes.html
Chandeliers and Candle Light September 13, 2007
The construction fencing has been removed!!! BIG progress and nothing but FOCUS on completing the interiors…the fun part 😉 We really hope you will like some of our last minute design changes…just a few little tweaks here and there. For instance; we had planned for chandeliers in the larger reception room…but then got inspired by the thought of candle light. So, instead of chandeliers that we could find in any hotel ballroom…we opted for a FOREST OF CANDLE LIGHT hanging from the ceiling rafters. There will literally be hundreds of crystal “candles” suspended in mid air throughout the ceiling in Reception — flickering, swaying, gleaming.
P.S. for Liene 😉 Pictures coming next week…after a mini photo shoot of the building <g>
Drinking from Glass September 11, 2007
There is this little jewel in the middle of Downtown Chandler owned by a jewel of a couple: Peter and Sigrid Sciacca. Their story is a bit romantic, a little comedic, and delightfully intriguing. There are so many layers to the name, the couple, and the stunning glassware that is showcased in their treasure of a store…that it is worth going back over and over again.
Drinking from glass $1.50…drinking from DiSciacca glass — Priceless! www.disciacca.com
Breathless… September 10, 2007
This recent construction update left me breathless. You see, I visit the construction site daily to ensure things are moving along and to make any last minute decisions that need to be addressed. As you can imagine construction sites aren’t typically that interesting on a day to day basis. We don’t get to notice a lot of the subtle things that will help complete the building. We see dirt, piles of debris, and lots of labor and work taking place. But…on Friday when I stepped into the courtyard and saw the completed walls, the massiveness of the fireplace, and the grandness of the 10′ high entry gates leading into the courtyard — I was BREATHLESS! It was perhaps the first moment I’ve had to really stop and appreciate the scale of this project and the hopes and dreams we hope to fulfill.
Now that I’ve caught my breath once again…we are about to enter another week of things wrapping up and finishing. Looking forward to this next round. What an amazing construction team…they’ve been working around the clock and we can’t wait to see this weeks ending successes.
Into the White September 5, 2007
Well, the time has come and we can barely wait! It’s time to take Inspirador into the white light. The final bits of exterior work have been completed and now Inspirador will get bathed in a subtle shade of French White paint. Her 10′ doors will finally see the Cavernous Black coat she’s been waiting for to welcome so many visitors and guests into our new little home. This week we’ll hang our temporary sign and have a mini champagne toast. We’ve been working hard on this little venture and a micro celebration is much needed for us all 🙂
In the meantime, we are working away with the many new details we are so excited to bring to the East Valley. Art, fine wine, fine food, beautiful gifts, great company and a new place to celebrate it all…coming so soon!
Cheers to All!
